As a new parent, you want the very best for your baby, from the right nutrition, to the safest car seat, to the most fun and safest toys available. Unfortunately, many of today’s baby toys are manufactured using materials that were grown and manufactured using chemicals.

From those insecticides used in the growing of cotton, to small levels of such toxic chemicals as lead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury and PVC, that form during the manufacturing process to those chemicals in those brightly colored paints used in infant toys, all can pose a danger to your babies health.

While the government allows minute traces of such chemicals in infant and children’s toys, they simply don’t take into consideration that with 1 in 3 toys containing such toxic substances, that is a lot of poison surrounding your baby.

Since babies are notorious for placing these infant toys in their mouths, these poisons are bound to end up in your child’s mouth and in their their system, where these toxic chemicals can build up, and overtime cause damage to your child’s health.

Often times, parents will purchase cotton toys for their children because they are easy to wash and keep clean, and are surprised when much of the color from these toys come out into the wash water. If these chemical dyes can be found in your washer, what do you think happens when your child places these toys in their mouth and sucks on them?

The only way to avoid subjecting your child to a plethora of chemical toxins is to consider purchasing organic baby toys.

The Basics Of Organic Baby Toys

Most organic baby toys are made from organically grown and processed cotton and wool, or from natural wood or bamboo that uses no chemicals in the manufacturing of the toy process. The dyes used in organic toys normally comes from natural plant sources which are also grown without the aid of chemicals, and then are made into dyes without any chemicals being used in the processing of the dye.

Berries and other plants are the basis for many of the colors you see in organic baby toys.

While many people think that manufacturing baby toys from organic materials limits the choice of toys available, nothing could be further from the truth. There is a whole range of toys including rattles, stuffed animals, dolls, blocks, trains, and cars, as well as stackable toys that are made from 100% organic materials.

These toys are cute, cuddly and extremely healthy for your baby to play with, and are sturdily made to ensure that all safety standards are met. Surprisingly, most of the organic toys for babies, and toddlers are more durable than those made using less safe and healthy materials.

How To Find Organic Baby Toys

Finding organic baby toys can sometimes be quite difficult. However, with more and more parents choosing to purchase these types of toys, they are carried in the majority of stores that sell infant and toddler products.

You do have to look for those products that state they are 100% organic, as some products contain mostly organic and non organic materials, and the packaging can be misleading, as these packages often contain phrases such as “made with organic materials” or other such phrases, that lead consumers to believe that the products are wholly organic.

Make sure you read all the information on the packaging carefully in order to ascertain that there are no chemically based dyes used in toys made out of cotton or wool, and no chemical based paints use on those wooden blocks and other toys.

While you may not be able to cut down on all the toxins that surround your new baby or small child, you can reduce those levels a great deal. by buying organic toys and other products whenever possible.

Do you worry about how safe infant toys really are? Does your infant have a favourite toy? What type of infant toys really appeal to you?
